Consultation/Divination is a way of using spiritual tools to dig up and provide practical answers to burning questions about a client’s situation. When a client approaches a competent Babaláwo in order to figure out the answers to certain questions inside of him/her, the Babaláwo brings out his divinatory tools to make findings.

What tools are used in Making Divination?
The laid down tools by Orúnmìlá are the Ikin (The sacred palm kernel) or Ọ̀pẹ̀lẹ̀ the sacred chain and the Ìbò (sacred paraphernalia) which are used to ask a “Yes” or “No” questions. The Ọ̀pẹ̀lẹ̀ is faster than the Ikin. It takes less time, but the Ikin is more accurate. The sacred paraphernalia (Ìbò) are used to ask a “Yes” or “No” question.

How really is Divination done?
When the client submits his/her name and mother’s name (Optional) with the stipulated consultation fee, the deity of knowledge is invoked about the person’s matter to bring clarity to the Situation. After invoking this deity, the Ikin or Ọ̀pẹ̀lẹ̀ is cast. The Odù that speaks more precisely about the person’s situation will show up in this case and the spiritual code s be cracked and the message interpreted to the client with the necessary steps to take to avert the said danger or claim the blessings. The steps shall be practical and spiritual. The practical side of the actions to be taken is called ìwà pẹ̀lẹ́, while the spiritual step is Ẹbọ ríru.
