Ifá is a Yoruba religion and system of divination. Its literary corpus is the Odu Ifá. Orunmila is identified as the Grand Priest, as he revealed divinity and prophecy to the world. Babalawos or Iyanifas use either the divining chain known as Opele, or the sacred palm or kola nuts called Ikin, on the wooden divination tray called Opon Ifá.
Ifá is practiced throughout the Americas, West Africa, and the Canary Islands, in the form of a complex religious system, and plays a critical role in the traditions of Santería, Candomblé, Palo, Umbanda, Vodou, and other Afro-American faiths, as well as in some traditional African religions.

Ifa is the general overall spirituality that focuses on a man’s destiny and how he should live and what he must do to ensure a fulfilled life here on earth. There is no other religion or spirituality on earth that speaks in practical terms about the essence of human being on earth and how we must fulfill it better than ifá does.

Ifá is basically fractioned into the religion aspect and the practical aspect. The religious aspect of Ifá discusses the tenets of ìwà pẹ̀lẹ́ and how they are a valuable means of exchange for a good destiny. These teachings are meant to provide a means of handling life proactively. They emphasize what patience can do, the value of perseverance, humility, loyalty, gratitude etc.
